Here is a list of 10 foods that lower blood pressure, including these foods into your diet could help you reduce the amount of medication you’re taking or even stop them completely. Remember – these foods should be eaten every day together with increased exercise and other lifestyle changes. 

1. Green Beans – these effect your blood pressure directly. They do this by helping your body in at least 3 different ways, this is because of the Vitamin C content, fiber content and potassium which probably has the most direct effect. You will not go wrong by adding green beans to your daily diet – leave the butter but think about adding grated almonds to make them even healthier.

2. Tomatoes – are a superfood. Blood pressure is just one of the many things that tomatoes have been proven to help with. Lycopene is the main reason it help so many different conditions, it helps with everything from diabetes prevention to premature aging of the skin. The best way to eat them is without too much processing or cooking!!

3. Spinach – is also considered a superfood and is a great ingredient in detox drinks. You can eat in salad or add it to a smoothie. Spinach contains lots of antioxidants which helps the body repair damage done by free radicals. Spinach can also help keep your keep your blood pressure down.

4. Dark Chocolate – The way to reap the benefits is to eat small amounts everyday. Its the antioxidants in DARK chocolate only that will help fight off free radicals and lower blood pressure. It has also been proven to help lose weight and help with diabetes. Remember though by eating more of it will not increase the benefits so keep portions small and daily.

5. Bananas – We know that bananas are famous for their potassium content and easily carried so you can eat them anywhere. You are recommended to eat 2 a day for the best effect on your blood pressure. If you have a family history of strokes then add a 3rd banana to your daily diet if you want to try to prevent having a stroke.

6. Beets
– It may not taste the greatest but it is up there with the superfoods. To reap the full benefits of beets it is recommended that you drink beet juice everyday. The good news is that many people who drink it have said that it is an acquired taste and when they started off not really liking it, they came to tolerate it, and finally to enjoy it.
