Why the Pomegranate is so Good for You!

This large round fruit dates back to ancient Egypt. In addition, the pomegranate has a rich biblical history and is understood to have been the fruit grown in the Garden of Eden. So let’s take a closer look at one of the World’s oldest fruits.

When is the Pomegranate Season?

Since the pomegranate season varies from Hemisphere to Hemisphere, the fresh fruit is available fresh year round. For example, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere the season is from September to February, while it is March through May in the Southern Hemisphere.

In the Northern Hemisphere pomegranates are produced in Israel, Iran, Pakistan, Afghanistan and the United States. In the Southern Hemisphere they are produced in Malaysia and the Mediterranean.

However, most people in North America are familiar with the California pomegranate growing season. This season extends from October until January.
